Setting up your BuzzPicha is easy, provided that you have a router, power & smart device.

Follow these steps below for DIY installation:

Step 1
Fit your BuzzPicha

1

We recommend that you carefully consider the permanent location of your BuzzPicha, avoiding direct sunlight, rain and wind.

The ideal height is between 1.3m and 1.6m – see pic A below.

2

Your BuzzPicha is supplied with a small Allen key, 4 sets of screws and plugs, double-sided tape, and 2 small tamper alarm screws.

Please note that your BuzzPicha will not work unless the small tamper alarm screw secures your BuzzPicha into the housing.  We have supplied an extra one in case you lose it.

Should you not be able to fit screws into walls or panels, double-sided tape is applied to the housing – see pic B

4

See pic C to demonstrate how your BuzzPicha fits into the BuzzHousing and point 4 shows where the tamper alarm screw secures it.

Step 2
Connect power & internet

In order for you to determine which configuration to use, you need to determine how far your router is from your front door.

The easiest way to test your signal strength is take your smart device to your front door, ensuring that you are on the same WiFi network.

If you get 3 or 4 bars signal on your smart device, then configuration 1 or 2 can be used.

If not, we suggest you use configuration 3, as your router may not be close enough.

Alternatively, move the location of your router closer to your front door or purchase a WiFi signal booster.

Configuration 1

POWER: Connect the DC Cable to BuzzPicha to the BuzzPower adapter and then to main electricity supply.

INTERNET: The doorbell can be connected via WiFi (2) or Ethernet cable (1).

config-1-or-2

Configuration 2

This configuration is exactly the same as configuration 1, except instead of connecting the BuzzPower adapter, power is run from your existing alarm system.

POWER: Connect the doorbell to existing 12V wiring on alarm system. We recommend this to be installed by a qualified electrician if this option selected.

INTERNET: The doorbell can be connected either via WiFi (2) or Ethernet cable (1).

Configuration 3

POWER: Connect the doorbell via LAN Ethernet Cable (cable not supplied) at RJ45 port  behind the BuzzPicha to BuzzPoE injector and into Router.

INTERNET: The doorbell can only be connected via LAN Cable if using this configuration.

If you have not reached pic F and the connection hasnt been made, then the following are most likely the problems:

  1. The doorbell is placed too far away from your router and is not picking up signal.
  2. Try resetting your router (switch off for 10 seconds before turning on)
  3. Ensure that your BuzzPicha is powered on (you will know this when you see the blue light on the BuzzCall button)
  4. Ensure that your BuzzPicha is in the BuzzHousing, and the tamper alarm screw is in place.

In your BuzzApp, you will see pic A below

If you have not reached pic A as above and the connection hasn't been made, then the following are most likely the problems:

  1. If your BuzzPicha and smart device are using the same network, ensure that your router’s DHCP function is on.

Once your BuzzPicha has been identified, enter a nickname for your BuzzPicha, as well as a password.

Your BuzzPicha has a unique CamID number which you need to keep in a safe place, as both the CamID # and password are needed to create additional users access to your BuzzPicha.
